Jessie Gosling is a Montreal-based singer, songwriter, and recording engineer originally from Barrie, Ontario. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Joni Mitchell, Laura Marling, and Linda Perhacs, her music blends folk, country, jazz, and rock influences. Her songs are shaped by layered harmonies, textured arrangements, and candid, emotionally direct lyricism.
Jessie’s songwriting is rooted in storytelling, often exploring themes of memory, identity, and familial connection. These ideas come into focus in her recent EP Names We Keep (2025), a lyrically rich and sonically detailed collection that reflects her growth as both a songwriter and co-producer. The project builds on her earlier release Forewarning (2021), supported by FACTOR’s Artist Development Grant, and marks a continued evolution in her artistic voice.
“I grew up with a family that loved to share music. When I didn’t know the songs they were playing, I would make up my own. Before I knew how to articulate my thoughts and emotions, they could hear it through my music. It became a way for me to not only explain myself, but to process how I feel about the other people, their stories, and the world around me.”
Alongside her solo work, Jessie has been an active collaborator and performer. She was a member of the band Carmine, formed through Humber Polytechnic’s Intercultural & Creative Music Fellowship, with whom she released the EP Something Is Awake (2023).
In parallel with her artistic practice, Jessie works as a recording engineer and producer. She holds a Bachelor of Music from Humber Polytechnic and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Sound Recording at McGill University. Her experience spans studio recording, live sessions, and post-production across a range of genres, and continues to inform her work as an artist, bridging technical craft with a deep commitment to storytelling through sound.
